Many thanks!

We all had a fabulous time during Eat Local Week sampling amazing local foods and visiting local farms. Thank so much to all who participated in attending and hosting events.

A few quick snapshot of what Eat Local Week looked like on the ground:

80 people attended a series of sold-out cooking classes throughout the week learning to make everything from pies to corn tortillas to sourdough to raspberry jam. (If you weren’t able to join us, check out City Market’s ongoing series of free cooking classes).

Sampling squash varieties side-by-side at an Eat Local Week cooking class.

Saturday’s Crop Mob attacked a jungle of tomatoes in one of Rockville Market Farm’s hoophouses, hauling out the plants, and trellising string so that farmer Eric can move his chickens there this winter. (And then ate perhaps the best meal of my life - delicious pork raised on the farm at a gorgeous barbeque they cooked up for the hungry volunteers).

1,295 people came to City Market’s Harvest Celebration to sample everything local from black currant juice from Cherry Hill Farm to the stunning burrata from Maplebrook Farm to the kiwi jam from Elmore Roots (yup, even these kiwis are grown in Vermont).

250 people dined on the amazing local food the Burlington School Food Project works to serve for school lunches every day at Local Lunch for Dinner.

We heard wonderful reports from people all over town sampling local apples, chocolates, wines, cheese, beers, breads, ice creams and much, much more at all the events hosted by our partners in Eat Local Week.

Two lucky winners walked away with the grand prizes: Helen Douglass won $200 to the Burlington Farmers’ Market.

Vivian Esparza won the $300 gift card to City Market.

Already looking forward to next year’s Eat Local Week events! Till then, enjoy the amazing we get from local farms year-round!
